Anneke Govaerts (b. 1993) is a Belgian abstract artist based in Antwerp whose intuitive works create quiet visual spaces that invite personal reflection.

“I believe in the intrinsic power of art, transcending linguistic boundaries and speaking through tactile interaction. Rather than working from rigid concepts, I follow intuition, allowing for organic engagement with materials. My practice centres on material thinking, prioritising exploration over verbal reasoning.

Aware of our impact on nature, I acknowledge the autonomy of the materials I work with. By relinquishing control and allowing them to follow their natural course, unexpected combinations emerge that shape each work. It is a symbiotic process where intuition and material come together in quiet dialogue. ”

Each piece is created as an open visual space where personal interpretation can unfold.

Alongside her artistic practice, Anneke has a background in care and human connection, which subtly influences her sensitivity to stillness and observation. She currently works from her studio in Antwerp. Original paintings and limited edition prints are available through her.
